About Lake Cumberland, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Lake Cumberland is located in Russell and several other counties in Kentucky. This manmade lake was created as a means for flood control and to produce hydroelectric power. It consists of 1,255 miles of shoreline and covers over 65,500 total acres. Today, Lake Cumberland is a major source of tourism for south-central Kentucky, and of the 383 total lakes maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this lake ranks fourth in the country for the number of visitor hours.

The Lake Cumberland area is home to a variety of attractions other than just swimming, fishing, and boating. The Lake Cumberland Speedway offers dirt track racing every Saturday night from March to October, while Somerset is home to destinations like the Somersplash Water Park and the Somerset Falls Family Park. The Lake Cumberland area is also an extremely popular destination for antique enthusiasts, with notable destinations including the Lake Cumberland Flea Market, Penny Lane Antique and Gift Shop, Shopper’s Paradise Flea Market, and North 27 Antique Mall.

Whether you live around Lake Cumberland or will be traveling to the area for a vacation, you need to know what to expect for weather conditions. Most visitors travel to the area during the summer, and conditions tend to be hot and humid. With sunny skies and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, it is no surprise that swimming and boating are so popular. However, it is important that you take steps to keep yourself safe, such as taking breaks at home in the cool air provided by your central air conditioning system.

Winters in the Lake Cumberland region tend to be mild relative to other parts of the U.S. While snowfall is minimal, overnight lows tend to fall to the freezing point or even lower. This means that freeing conditions can occur, so you’ll need to keep your home safe by investing in an energy efficient heat pump or furnace.
